Tennessee Aquatics Sweeps Southern Premier

Tennessee Aquatics won both the men’s and women’s titles of the Southern Premier in Knoxville.

Nashville Aquatic Club’s Alex Walsh kicked Sunday finals off with a win in the 100-meter backstroke, posting a time of 1:02.08. She was followed Lakeside’s Asia Seidt, who posted a time of 1:02.69, and SwimMAC Carolina’s Julia Menkhaus, who touched in 1:02.82.

SwimMAC Carolina’s Matthew Josa took first in the men’s race, touching in 56.02. The time was over a second ahead of second-place finisher Nick Carter’s 57.11. SwimMAC Carolina’s Nathan Murray was third in 57.95.

In the women’s 100-meter freestyle, Swim Atlanta’s Amanda Weir cruised to a win with a time of 54.59. Her teammate Madeline Locus was second in 55.97, followed by SwimMAC Carolina’s Erica Brown, who touched in 56.66.

SwimMAC Carolina’s Cullen Jones took first in the men’s event with a time 50.57. New York Aquatic Club’s Jimmy Feigen took second in 50.84, and Crawfish Aquatics’ Colin Bone was third in 50.91.

Tennessee Aquatics’ Mally Hannis posted the 11th fastest time in the world for 2016 in the 200-meter breaststroke. She finished in 2:25.44. SwimMAC Carolina’s Katie Meili was second in 2:29.86, and Nashville Aquatic Club’s Tatum Wade took third with a time of 2:33.58.

The men’s race went to SwimMAC Carolina’s Marko Blazevski. The 23-year-old posted a time of 2:19.07, beating Tennessee Aquatics’ Brad Craig by only one-tenth of a second. Tennessee Aquatics’ Bryar Long finished third in 2:19.70.

In the women’s 100-meter butterfly, SwimMAC Carolina’s Alyssa Marsh touched first with a time of 1:01.05. Menkhaus was second in 1:01.45, and Seidt took third with a time of 1:01.62.

SwimMAC Carolina’s Tim Phillips won the men’s race with a time of 53.33. Josa finished right behind him in 53.48, followed by Zach Brown of Marlins of Raleight, who touched in 55.70.

SwimMAC Carolina took first place in the women’s 400-meter medley relay. The Bolles School Sharks ended the meet with a win in the men’s relay.
