The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee announced the 30 finalists for the 2019 Team USA Awards. The six award winners will be announced during the Team USA Awards presented by Dow, Best of the Year, held Nov. 19 at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. NBC will televise the event on Dec. 22.

010 CONNOR DWYER SUSPENDED 20 MONTHS AFTER TESTING POSITIVE FOR ANABOLIC AGENT; ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Two-time U.S. Olympian Conor Dwyer was suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency for testing positive for an anabolic agent in out-of-competition tests collected on Nov. 15, Nov. 27 and Dec. 20, 2018.

Haley Anderson and Ashley Twichell, the top two American women open water swimmers announced they would not race at the ANOC World Beach Games in Qatar as planned because water temperatures were expected to exceed the upper limits imposed after the death of their fellow American, Fran Crippen, in 2010.

017 USA SWIMMING TO OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZE AMERICAN RECORDS SET IN ISL MEETS

USA Swimming confirmed that it will recognize American records set in International Swimming League competitions as official records—unlike FINA, the sport’s governing body, with world records. FINA’s decision has caused discourse among the athletes competing in the ISL.

018 ALASKAN HIGH SCHOOL SWIM TEAM OK AFTER PLANE OVERSHOOTS RUNWAY

A twin-engine airplane carrying an Alaskan high school swim team recently crashed after going off the runway in Alaska. Although two passengers suffered critical injuries and 10 more received medical care, members of the swim team were reported OK after the plane went off the runway by nearly 500 feet and came to a rest just short of the Bering Sea.

028 SUN YANG HAS HEARING CONFIRMED FOR NOVEMBER 15 BY COURT OF ARBITRATION

The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that a public hearing is set for Nov. 15 at the Conference Center of the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace in Montreux, Switzerland. The court will hear a challenge to a decision of the FINA Doping Panel to allow world record holder Sun Yang of China to escape penalty despite a series of warnings and cautions issued to the swimmer after an acrimonious four-hour argument in September 2018 with testing agents from the IDTM agency hired by FINA.
