Sun Devils Add Verbals from Mackenzie Nedom, Katherine Randall to Class of 2026

NEW COMMITS: Arizona State University has picked up two new verbal commitments for the fall of 2022 from Loveland, Colo. native Mackenzie Nedom and Katherine Randall of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.

Both talented swimmers will join Zoe Summar of Franklin, Tenn. as a member of the Sun Devils’ Class of 2026. Arizona State, who is currently redshirting this season, finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 Pac-12 Championships.

MACKENZIE NEDOM

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“Super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Arizona State University!! I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches who supported me on this journey. FORKS UP! #gosundevils”

A talented sprint freestyler, Nedom trains year-round with Fort Collins Area Swim Team and won the 200/500 free combo at the FAST Mid-Season meet in December. In summer 2019, she placed eighth in both the 100m/200m free at Mount Hood Sectionals before going on to place fourth and fifth, respectively, in those events at Western Zones.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.08
  • 100 free – 51.55
  • 200 free – 1:50.11
  • 500 free – 4:55.31

Nedom also competes for Peru internationally. At the South American Junior Championships in 2019, she earned bronze in the 100m and 200m free. She also helped Peru win the 2019 Julio Maglione Cup after winning the 100m/200m free combo.

KATHERINE RANDALL

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am thrilled to be able to announce my verbal commitment to continue my studies and swimming at Arizona State University!! I want to give a huge thank you to my friends, family, and coaches for giving me the support to be able to continue doing what I love for a school that is seriously one of a kind. I can’t wait to be a Sun Devil??? #forksup”

Primarily a distance swimmer, Randall swims with Riptide Swim Club and won the 1000 free and the mile at Minnesota Seniors in March where she also secured silver in the 500 free and bronze in the 200 free. She also raced to eighth place in the mile and 15th in the 500 free at Juniors West in December.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 52.71
  • 200 free – 1:51.07
  • 500 free – 4:50.80
  • 1000 free – 9:57.92
  • 1650 free – 16:35.28
  • 400 IM – 4:26.01
  • 200 fly – 2:01.72

In summer 2019, Randall recorded six best times at Minneapolis Sectionals where her highest finish was a pair of sixth-place showings in both the 400m free and 1500m free. She then went on to grab gold in the 800m/1500m free, silver in the 400m free, and bronze in the 200m free at Minnesota LCM Seniors.
