NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker Olivia Mendenhall of Springfield, Mo. has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Arkansas and will join the Razorbacks in the fall of 2021.

A two-time Summer Juniors qualifier, Mendenhall does her club swimming with Springfield Aquatics. She finished 22nd in the 100m breast at Junior Nationals this past summer after earning bronze in that event as well as taking fifth in the 50m/200m breast at Jenks Sectionals. Last winter, she earned gold in the 200 breast and bronze in the 100 breast at Arkansas Seniors before going on to record 100% best times with three top-8 finishes at Columbia Sectionals. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts.

She told Swimming World:

”I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Arkansas! I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches for the support! Can’t wait to be a razorback! #woopigsooie”

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 29.73/32.98
  • 100 breast – 1:03.38/1:11.89
  • 200 breast – 2:16.32/2:35.14

When she arrives in Fayetteville as a member of the class of 2025, Mendenhall will add her talents to a breaststroke group that’ll include Vanessa Hermann and Emma Garfield. It took a 1:01.92/2:13.24 to score at the 2019 SEC Championships, but Mendenhall has consistently made improvements each season and still has over 1.5 years of club swimming still to go before suiting up for the Razorbacks.
