Summer Juniors Qualifier Caden Fritz Commits to Auburn

NEW COMMIT: Summer Junior National Qualifier Caden Fritz has committed to swim at Auburn University in the fall of 2022. The Maryville, Tennessee native joins Josh Cobia, John VanZandt, Drew Jordan, Tate Cutler, Lucas Thomas, and Collin Klingman in the Tigers’ class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“It is with great pride and excitement that I announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Auburn University!!!!! I would like to take this moment to thank all of the people who have helped me through it all. My coaches, teachers, teammates, and especially my momma and dad are the reason I’ve made it to where I am and y’all mean the world to me. So excited for the next step and WAR EAGLE!”

Fritz does his club swimming with Baylor Swim Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He most recently competed at the National Club Swimming Association (NSCA) Spring Swimming Championships, with his highest finish coming in the 200 back, where he was seventh in a personal best 1:46.41.

His best times in yards include:

  • 50 free – 21.22
  • 100 free – 45.27
  • 200 free – 1:40.55
  • 100 back – 49.22
  • 200 back – 1:46.41

The Scholastic All-American is finishing up his senior year at the prestigious Baylor School. The Chattanooga, Tennessee prep school has produced several stars, including Florida distance star Trey Freeman, Auburn freshman Ellie Waldrep, and former Alabama backstroker Lucas Kaliszak.

Fritz is a five-time Tennessee Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (TISCA) state finalist, with his best finish coming in the 200 free in 2021 when he placed third in a then-personal best 1:40.59. This past season he swam to two fourth-place finishes in the 100 free (45.27) and 100 back (49.22) to help the Raiders defend its state title.

Auburn had a strong backstroke crew this past season with brothers Nate and Aidan Stoffle and Lleyton Smith. All three will be returning in 2022-2023, meaning Fritz will have some strong training partners next season.
