Russia Announces World Championships Roster

Russian Swimming has announced its roster for the first-ever home World Championships held in Kazan July 24, – August 9.

Swimming starts on August 2 and traditionally attracts the most attention. One of the highlights of the first night will be 4×100 relay where Russia is among top contenders for gold but some spots for the relays remained vacant until today.

Head coach of Russian swim team Anatoly Zhuravlev revealed some names that got vacant spots on the team and made it to Kazan through qualifying at European Games in Baku and University Games in Gwangju. Artyom Lobuzov who won 200 free (1:47.59) at Russian Cup in Ruza this weekend, may still be addede for 4×200 relay.

Worth mentioning that silver medalist in London Evgeny Korotyshkin, along with 2014 breakthrough sprinters Oleg Tikhobaev and Evgeny Sedov are not on the team. Overall, the team have made 15 women and 22 men.
