Princeton Picks Up Two More Class of 2026 Verbal Pledges from Eliza Brown, Sabrina Johnston

NEW COMMITS: Princeton University has received another set of verbal commitments* for the fall of 2022 from Brookline, Mass. native Eliza Brown and Sabrina Johnston of Mount Kisco, N.Y.

Both talented swimmers will join Megan Reich and Heidi Smithwick as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process to swim at Princeton University!! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of an amazing team like the Tigers, and a member of the Princeton community. I am so grateful for my coaches, teammates, and family for supporting me along the way. Go Tigers!! “

Now swimming with the Sarasota YMCA Sharks, Brown placed third in the 200m breast, sixth in the 200m IM, and eighth in the 100m breast at November’s Toyota U.S. Open – Sarasota. She collected three gold medals at New England 15-18 Age Groups last March as well.

Her best times include:

50 breast – 30.25
100 breast – 1:04.02
200 breast – 2:14.93
200 IM – 2:01.74
400 IM – 4:17.34

In Summer 2019, she placed eighth in the 200m breast and ninth in the 400m IM at New England LCM Seniors before going on to compete at Junior Nationals. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“Extremely grateful and excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at Princeton University to further my athletic and academic career!! The team’s incredibly welcoming environment, combined with their drive for excellence in and out of the pool is something that I cannot wait to join. A HUGE thank you to all of my family, friends, teammates, and coaches who have helped me reach this point. GO TIGERS!!”

Johnston, who does her club swimming with BGNW Marlins Swim Team, most recently won two events and earned four best times at the 18&U Winter Championships – BGNW after finishing seventh in the 100m back and eighth in the 100m free at the U.S. Open – Richmond.

In Summer 2019, she was a four-time finalist at Geneva Futures where her highest finish was a sixth-place showing in the 100m back.

100 fly – 54.61
100 back – 54.49
200 back – 2:01.02
50 free – 23.41
100 free – 50.26
100 breast – 1:05.31
200 breast – 2:19.70

While representing Horace Greeley High School, Johnston finished third in the 50 free and fifth in the 100 back at the New York Federation State Championships as a freshman. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American collected bronze in both the 100 fly and the 200 free at the NYSPHSAA Section 1 League 1 meet in 2019, too.
