It was arguably the biggest news story in the swimming community: yesterday, Cammile Adams posted the fastest preliminary time in the 200 butterfly, only to touch the wall as see DQ by her name. Adams, who placed fifth in the event at the 2012 London Olympics, left the pool deck an emotional wreck.

Fortunately, the disqualification was overturned shortly after during an automatic review recorded on underwater cameras. But for Adams, the shock of the disqualification took an emotional toll on her body. In the following press conference, Adams discusses how she relied on a combination her teammates and sleep – 11 hours plus a 3 hour nap! – to help her recover in time for today’s semi and finals.

And Adams did recover. She came back tonight to win the event in a 2:06.80 and represent Team USA in Rio.
