The University of Florida men’s swimming and diving team and head coach Anthony Nesty has officially announced the addition of Mateusz Dubas, who will join the Gators for the 2020-21 season.

Dubas, a native of Siemianowice Slaskie, Poland, heads to Gainesville after achieving various success in international and national competition as a member and representative of the Poland Junior National Team.

Over the course of his career, he has won multiple Polish Junior Championships and medals in both the breaststroke and IM events, as well as finishing as a semifinalist at the European Junior Championships.

He has set personal-best long-course times at the Polish National Championships this May in the 400 IM (4:27.17) and 100 breast (1:04.18). He would go on to advance to the A-final of the 400 IM, reeling in an eighth-place finish.

At the 2019 European Junior Championships in Olsztyn, Poland, Mateusz Dubas posted a career-best 200 breast effort of 2:15.50.

His short-course lifetime-bests include 2:11.97 in the 200 breast, 4:12.85 in the 400 IM and 1:00.62 in the 100 breast.

Mateusz Dubas will join 13 other newcomers to a team that will look to replace 11 seniors and will be counted on to step in and contribute immediately in the water for the Gators, who are on the quest for a ninth-straight conference crown in 2020-21 after taking home the SEC title this past season.
