NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has received their second verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season from Olympic Trials qualifier Abby O’Sullivan of Mission Viejo, California.

She will join Meghan Christman of Carmel, Indiana, as a member of the Fighting Irish’s Class of 2027.

She told Swimming World:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame. I am extremely grateful for the endless support I have received from my family, friends, teammates, and coaches during this process. GO IRISH #cantstoptheshamrock”

O’Sullivan, who does her club swimming with Mission Viejo Nadadores, had four top-15 finishes at the Speedo Summer West Championships this past summer. Last winter, she raced three events at the Toyota U.S. Open and placed seventh in the 400m IM at the Richmond TYR Pro Swim Series.

Her best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:52.35
  • 1000 free – 9:54.92
  • 1650 free – 16:33.34
  • 400 IM – 4:20.89

Currently a junior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, O’Sullivan finished third in the 500 free and ninth in the 200 free at the 2021 CIF Southern DI Section Championships.

O’Sullivan is a huge get for Notre Dame’s distance group as her best times would’ve ranked in the top-4 on their lineup last season.
