New Albany Aquatic Club’s Sydney Boals Announces Verbal Commitment to Florida State Seminoles

NEW COMMIT: New Albany, Ohio native Sydney Boals will head to the Sunshine State in the fall of 2021 after verbally committing to Florida State University.

She will join Maddy Huggins, Jenny Bird, Alexandra Dicks, Ella Dyjak and Rachel Moran in Tallahassee as a member of the Seminoles’ class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Florida State University! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and friends for supporting me throughout this process and helping me get to where I am today. I would also like to give huge thank you to Coach Studd and Coach Zorn for giving me this opportunity to swim with such an amazing team! GO NOLES!”

Primarily a freestyler and IMer, Boals does her club swimming with New Albany Aquatic Club and is a Futures qualifier. She most recently placed eighth in the 200 IM at the MAKO Senior Circuit after competing on the 4×100 freestyle relay at Juniors East in December. Last summer, she achieved three best times at Metropolitan LCM Seniors before going on to final in six events at Eastern Zone Seniors.

Her best times include:

50 free – 24.08
100 free – 51.84
200 free – 1:51.92
500 free – 5:01.91
200 fly – 56.62
200 IM – 2:03.79
400 IM – 4:26.50

Also competing for New Albany High School, Boals finished seventh in the 200 IM and ninth in the 100 breast as a junior at the Ohio State Championships. While competing for Ward Melville Senior High School in New York, she placed sixth in both the 100 free and 200 free at the New York Federation Championships as a sophomore.

Under head coach Neal Studd, Florida State finished seventh at the 2020 ACC Championships.
