NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Chris Bedsole of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, has announced his verbal intention to continue his academic and swimming career at Missouri State University beginning in the fall of 2022.

He told Swimming World:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to Missouri State. HUGE thank you to all my friends, family, and coaches that helped me along the way! Go Bears!!”

A talented sprint freestyler and butterflyer, Bedsole does his club swimming with Huntsville Swim Association and earned four best times at Huntsville Futures this past summer after posting four top-16 finishes at the Southeastern Championships. He also placed sixth in the 100 free at the Southeastern Championships in February before going on to final in five events at NCSAs in March.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 21.27
  • 100 free – 46.37
  • 100 fly – 49.72
  • 200 fly – 1:51.68

Also competing for Huntsville High School, Bedsole is serving as team captain for the third straight season as a senior. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American is a six-time individual Alabama State Championship finalist, earning bronze in the 50/100 free as a junior en route to helping his team clinch their fifth consecutive 7A state title.

Bedsole will be a great asset to the Bears both individually and on relays when he arrives on campus as a member of the Class of 2026. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50 free at the 2021 MAC Championships where Missouri State finished second overall in the team standings.
