NEW COMMIT: The Lady Vols have landed their sixth early verbal commitment for the class of 2025 from Kate McCarville of Springfield, Mo. She’ll arrive in Knoxville for the start of the 2021-22 season along with Lauren Wetherell, Summer EakerJosephine FullerSummer Smith and Asia Minnes.

McCarville, who already owns three Olympic Trials standards, is an extremely versatile swimmer and does her club swimming with Springfield Aquatics. Most recently, she earned 100% best times at Junior Nationals where she finished fourth in the 400m IM, seventh in the 200m fly, and ninth in the 200m IM, 16th in the 100m fly, and 17th in the 200m free. She also earned gold in the 200m/400m IM combo at Jenks Sectionals this past summer.

Last winter, she raced to seventh in the 200 fly, 10th in both the 500 free and 400 IM, and 12th in the 200 IM at Juniors West. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won three events at the Arkansas Senior State Championships in January before going on to record five victories at Columbia Sectionals in March.

Her best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:49.33
  • 500 free – 4:48.93
  • 1000 free – 9:58.72
  • 100 fly – 53.75
  • 200 fly – 1:58.75/2:13.16 (Olympic Trials cut)
  • 200 IM – 2:00.09/2:17.35 (Olympic Trials cut)
  • 400 IM – 4:13.58/4:50.92 (Olympic Trials cut)

McCarville will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Lady Vols as a member of the class of 2025. She would’ve placed in the C-final of the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 400 IM – and is just shy of scoring range in her other top events – at the 2019 SEC Championships where Tennessee finished fourth overall in the team standings. Even with just under two years of club swimming still to go, her best times in the 100/200 fly and 400 IM are already fast enough for 2019-20 NCAA ‘B’ standards.

Oh my Kate! Congrats on your successes and we hope to cheer you on again in Mesa this winter. Much closer than going all the way to TN.
