Kaylee McKeown and Emma McKeon Headline Entry Lists For Aussie World Champs Trials

While the United States Trials for next month’s World Championships are still a few weeks away, Swimming Australia will select its squad for the summer showcase this week. The six-day competition is scheduled from June 13-18 and will be held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Two years after starring at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Emma McKeon will headline the fields in the 50-meter freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while distance ace Ariarne Titmus will try to muster momentum on the road to an impending showdown with Canada’s Summer McIntosh and Katie Ledecky in the 400 freestyle. Meanwhile, rising star Mollie O’Callaghan will embrace a multi-event slate that will see her notably contest the 100 free, 200 free and 100 backstroke.

Having set the world record in the 200 backstroke earlier this year, Kaylee McKeown is also seeded first in the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley, and will give the 200 freestyle a run as she pursues additional relay duty for the Dolphins.

On the men’s side, 2016 Olympic champion Kyle Chalmers will begin his pursuit of a world title in the 100 freestyle, and also compete in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. He’ll be joined as a leading name by Zac Stubblety-Cook, the world-record holder in the 200 breaststroke, and Elijah Winnington, the Aussie standout in the middle-distance events.
