Katie Meili and Grant Shoults Dominate Day 3 of Pro-Am Classic

Day three of the 2015 Pro-Am Classic kicked off tonight in Lewisville, Texas with two-win performances from multiple swimmers.

Katie Meili began the night with a 1:54.15 win in the women’s 200-yard IM, a comfortable three-second victory ahead of Karlee Bispo (1:57.84). The race was close until Meili pulled ahead with a 32.13 breast split. Bailee Nunn rounded out the top three with a 2:00.54.

Later in the evening, Meili turned around and won the women’s 200-yard breast with a 10-second cushion over Rayann Jaryszak. Meili’s 2:08.88 was untouchable, with Jaryszak taking second in 2:18.58. Jessica Epps claimed third in a 2:19.04.

Mission Viejo’s Stanford commit, Grant Shoults, finished first in the men’s 200-yard IM with a 1:48.05 effort. Justin Wu wound up second in 1:50.56, just ahead of third-place finisher Michael Thibert’s 1:50.83.

Shoults finished his night with a solid win in the men’s 500-yard free. His 4:19.45 was enough to win the race ahead of Bobby Bollier, who touched at a 4:21.36. Dan O’Conner claimed third with a 4:22.43.

Ariana Vanderpool-Wallace was victorious in the women’s 50-free shootout, winning with a 22.05. Lauren Pitzer claimed second with a 22.66, while Karlee Bispo bronzed wih a 22.75.

In the men’s 50-yard free shootout, David Williams topped the event with a 19.54, just ahead of Roland Schoeman’s 19.70. Mark Weber finished right behind Schoeman with a 19.74.

Brendan McHugh rocked the men’s 200-yard breast with a 1:52.46 victory in the event. Ryan Fisher was a distant second with a 1:58.16, while Tristen Disibio claimed third in 2:01.81.

Ashlyn Schoof blasted a 53.94 to win the women’s 100-yard back. Sefilina Maile, only 14, took second with an outstanding 55.30, while Lakeside’s Kara Eisenmann finished third in 55.66.

In the men’s 100-yard back, Eugene Godsoe took the crown with a 45.46. Sean Feher swam a 47.43 to earn second place, while George Wozencraft wound up third in 50.12.

Stephanie Peacock gutted out a 4:36.89 top time in the women’s 500-yard free. Peacock came home strong in the second half of the race to pull ahead of second-place finisher Ashley Twichell. Peacock clocked a 4:36.89, while Twichell posted a 4:40.55. Lauren Pitzer finished third in 4:46.00.

The Schroeder YMCA Swim Team won the women’s 400-medley telay in 3:44.79 with a team of Ashlyn Schoof (54.21), Gwendolyn Worlton (1:05.20), Hannah Saiz (52.96), and Lindsay Bjornstad (52.43). Texas Christian University won the men’s 400-medley relay. Chris Heart (51.57), John Story (53.89), Garrett Hills (48.37), and John Smith (46.01) combined for a 3:19.84.

The 2015 Pro-Am Classic concludes tomorrow.

Another day another for Kate the Great, the pride of Columbia and the Ivy League, who sliced .05 off her career-best 1:54.20 200 IM that won her her first U.S. Nationals title @ Greensboro a year ago. Her 2::08.8 200 breast no pr (that time s an Iny-record 2:08 flat frm 2K13 NCAAs in Indy) but still a fine time indeed.
Wonder if he has aspirations about spending next August in Rio? Naw…probably go to grad school and become a nuclear phsicist!
