Junior National Teamer Jacob Pishko Commits to Louisville

NEW COMMIT: University of Louisville has scored a commitment from Junior National Team member Jacob Pishko for the fall 2022. Pishko, a post-graduate student at Mercersburg Academy, originally committed to the U.S. Naval Academy before his move to Pennsylvania but decomitted earlier this season.

He joins Charlie Crush, Guy Brooks, Robert Ehrenborg, Jackson Millard, and Drew Collins in the Cardinals’ class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am super excited to announce my commitment to further my swimming and academic careers at the University of Louisville!! Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and the Louisville coaching staff who have helped me get to this point! Can’t wait to take flight with @uoflswim_dive this fall!”

With his dad, Jeff, a top-level age group swim coach, Pishko has had stops at a number of the nation’s top swim teams. He started his high school career with the Bolles School Sharks, where his dad was a Senior Assistant Coach up until the COVID-19 pandemic. The senior Pishko then took up an assistant head coaching position at TAC Titans in North Carolina, where Jacob joined him for his senior season.

His best times in yards include:

  • 200 free – 1:40.11
  • 500 free – 4:25.35
  • 1650 free – 15:36.85
  • 200 fly – 1:46.37

Pishko has made great strides since the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last season and a half, he has dropped six seconds in the 200 fly, nine in the 500, and almost 40 in the mile. He has also broken out on the national scene, qualifying for Wave I of the 2020 Olympic Trials, where he placed eighth in the 200 fly.

In addition to his success in the pool, Pishko has also been a star in open water, winning a junior national title in the 7.5k race at last year’s USA Swimming Junior Open Water Nationals.

With NCAA Champion Nicolas Albiero exhausting his eligibility, Pishko will provide some depth in the fly department for the Cardinals.
