Jessica Maeda, Mia Moulden Verbally Commit to Denver for 2021-22 Season

Jessica Maeda, Mia Moulden send verbals to Denver.

NEW COMMITS: Tigard, Ore. native Jessica Maeda and Mia Moulden of Slater, Iowa have both given their verbal commitments to the University of Denver and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Denver. I can’t wait to call Denver home for the next four years!! go pios!!”

A talented breaststroker and IMer, Maeda is a Junior National qualifier who swims year-round with Tualatin Hills Swim Club. She placed 12th in the 200 breast and 17th in the 100 breast at Juniors West in December and notched three best times at the Washington Open. Last summer, she grabbed the bronze medal in the 200m breast at Mount Hood Futures where she also took ninth in the 100m breast.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:02.07
  • 200 breast – 2:16.01
  • 200 IM – 2:04.28
  • 400 IM – 4:27.19

Also competing for Mountainside High School Maeda is a six-time Oregon 6A State Championship finalist. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American won the 200 free and was the 100 breast runner-up as a junior while taking second in the 100 breast and fourth in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“When I was a freshman, my coach told me I was going to swim for Denver… I guess I’m a good listener! I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Denver!! I wouldn’t be here without my family, team and coaches, thank you for all of your help along the way!”

Primarily a butterflyer, Moulden does her club swimming with Ames Cyclone Aquatic Club and won the 200 fly at Iowa Seniors in February where she also had four additional top-18 finishes. She was the 400m IM runner-up at Iowa LCM Seniors last long course season where she also placed 10th in both the 100m fly and 200m IM.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 56.17
  • 200 fly – 2:01.81
  • 200 IM – 2:07.71
  • 50 free – 24.08

A rising senior at Ames Senior High School, Moulden is a four-time Iowa State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American placed fourth in the 100 back and fifth in the 100 fly during her junior campaign while taking 15th in the 100 fly and 16th in the 50 free as a sophomore.
