Two-time Olympian Jay Litherland has signed with Mizuno in a deal announced on Wednesday.

Litherland qualified for the Tokyo Olympics by finishing second in the 400 individual medley at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Omaha. It will be his second trip to the Olympics after competing in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

In addition to his Olympic experience, Litherland is a world championship silver- and bronze-medalist.

Jay Litherland is a Japanese-American and fluent in Japanese, making the partnership with Mizuno, a Japanese company, a strong fit with the brand’s USA division.

“Mizuno makes the best suit and gear in the world. It’s not only the fastest suit – it also lasts,” Jay Litherland said. “At times, I’ve worn the same suit for a year! Been rocking with them from the start and I’m thrilled to make it official with this partnership.”

Litherland has citizenship in three different countries: the United States, New Zealand and Japan. Along with having citizenship in multiple places, he has also had great international experience through swimming. He’s competed in Dubai at the World Junior Championships in 2013, in 2015 at Summer Universiade in Dubai where he won gold in the 400 IM, and multiple world championship meets and Olympics.

Litherland enters the Olympics sixth in the world this year. He finished fifth in Rio in the 400 IM and also won silver at the 2019 Worlds.
