Italian swimmer Silvia Di Pietro has tested positive for COVID-19.

DiPietro posted the news on social media.

“Verified. Unfortunately today I tested positive for covid-19. Sunday, after the 10th day of voluntary isolation from contact at the Italian championships, I took an antigenic swab which was negative but during the day I started not feeling well and that same evening I had a high fever. Today I repeated the swab and, unfortunately, it was positive ?. I’m obviously physically exhausted and sorry … but better days will come,” Silvia Di Pietro posted on Instagram.

She competed in the Italian Open Championships in Riccione earlier this month. She won the 50 fly and also the 50 freestyle, in a tight duel between Di Pietro and Costanza Cocconcelli, with Di Pietro winning by the smallest of margins, 25.22 to 25.23.
