NEW COMMIT: The University of Illinois has received an in-state verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Jillian Wilson of South Elgin, Ill.

She will join Sara Jass and Brigitta Neverman as a member of the Fighting Illini’s Class of 2026.

She told Swimming World:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Illinois! I owe a huge thank you to my coaches, family and friends for their endless support throughout this process! Go Illini! #jointhefight”

A talented butterflyer, Wilson trains year-round with Academy Bullets Swim Club and most recently placed sixth in the 200m fly at the TYR 18&U Spring Cup in Des Moines after earning three best times at the NCSA Championships where she finaled in the 100/200 fly.

Her best times include:

  • 100 fly – 55.72
  • 200 fly – 2:01.22
  • 200 IM – 2:08.34
  • 400 IM – 4:34.96

Currently a junior at Saint Charles North High School, Wilson won the 100 fly at the IHSA Sectional Championships in 2020. She also raced the 100 fly at the IHSA State Championships during her sophomore season.

Wilson is another big get for the Fighting Illini and will add valuable depth when she arrives on campus in fall of 2022, as she would’ve been their second-fastest 100/200 butterflyer last season.
