NEW COMMIT: Georgia Tech has scored their first early verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Pittsgrove, New Jersey native Sean Simms.

Primarily a distance freestyler, Simms does his club swimming with Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club and owns a pair of Winter Juniors cuts. He placed 12th in the 1500m free with three additional top-20 finishes at Geneva Futures this past summer after earning six best times at Mid-Atlantic LCM Seniors. Last winter, he raced five events at NCSAs before going on to grab two silver medals at Mid-Atlantic SCY Seniors.

His best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:33.68
  • 1000 free – 9:24.60
  • 1650 free – 15:40.53
  • 200 back – 1:52.11

A current junior at Arthur P. Schalick High School, Simms placed ninth in the 500 free at the New Jersey Meet of Champions during his sophomore season and has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts. When he suits up for the Yellow Jackets as a member of the class of 2025, he will add valuable distance freestyle depth to their lineup.
