Georgia Tech Adds Cade Martin, Charles Perks to Class of 2026

NEW COMMITS: Georgia Tech has two new additions to their lineup for 2022: Greenwood Village, Colo. native Cade Martin and Charles Perks of Canton, Conn.

Both talented swimmers will join Sean Santos, Will Coady, Ben Gerhard, Chris Richardson and Stephen Jones as a member of the Yellow Jackets’ Class of 2026.

CADE MARTIN

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am extremely proud and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Georgia Tech. I would like to thank all of my family, friends, coaches, and teachers who have helped me along the way. #gojackets?”

Martin does his club swimming with Aquawolves Swim Team and most recently placed fourth in the 100 back at Phoenix Sectionals in March after also taking fourth in that event at Colorado Seniors in 2020. He raced both backstroke events at Juniors West in 2019 and placed 20th in the 200m back at Arena Western Zones the summer before.

His best times include:

  • 50 back – 24.20
  • 100 back – 49.03
  • 200 back – 1:50.39
  • 100 fly – 50.36
  • 50 free – 22.18
  • 100 free – 47.66
  • 200 IM – 1:56.25

Also competing for Cherry Creek High School, Martin raced to 10th in the 100 back and 12th in the 100 fly as a freshman at the Colorado 5A State Championships. He is also a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

CHARLES PERKS

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Georgia Tech! I’d like to thank all my friends, family, coaches, and teammates who have helped me along the way! Go Yellow Jackets!! ???”

Perks trains year-round with West Hartford Aquatic Team and won four events at the CPAC May Meet where he picked up two new lifetime bests. In July 2019, he earned 100% best times at the TYR Summer Senior Championships where he placed sixth in both the 400m free and mile.

His best times include:

  • 500 freestyle: 4:25.55
  • 1000 freestyle: 9:06.90 
  • 1650 freestyle: 15:17.18
  • 50 freestyle: 22.67
  • 100 freestyle: 48.53
  • 200 freestyle: 1:39.73 
  • 100 butterfly: 51.69
  • 200 butterfly: 1:52.02

Like Martin, Perks is also a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. Perks would’ve placed 14th in the mile at the 2021 ACC Championships.
