Gators Continue 2022 Recruiting Haul With Verbal from Virginia State Record Holder Zoe Dixon

NEW COMMIT: The University of Florida has been on a recruiting tear for their growing Class of 2026 and have recently added a new verbal commitment from Richmond, Va. native Zoe Dixon, one of the most sought-out recruits in her class.

She will join Scarlet Martin as well as Florida natives Mallory Schleicher, Bella Lojewski and Anna Moore in Gainesville at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Florida! I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches who have supported me through it all. I can’t wait to be a Gator!??? #GoGators”

Dixon does her club swimming with NOVA of Virginia Aquatics and owns several Junior National standards with the Olympic Trials cuts in the 100m/200m back and 200m/400m IM. She finished 14th in the 400m IM and 15th in the 200m IM at the Toyota U.S. Open in December and most recently recorded six best times at Virginia Seniors in March.

Last summer, she finaled in the 200m IM at Phillips 66 Nationals before going on to place sixth in both the 200m and 400m IM as well as 13th in the 200m back at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

200 IM – 1:57.22
400 IM – 4:06.43
100 back – 53.81
200 back – 1:55.42
100 fly – 54.62
200 fly – 1:59.03
100 breast – 1:02.28

Currently a junior at Mills E. Godwin High School, Dixon is already a four-time Virginia Class 5 State Championship finalist. She won the 200 IM and was the runner-up in the 100 back as a sophomore while taking third in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 fly during her freshman campaign.

In 2020, she broke the Virginia Class 5 and overall state record in the 200 IM. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Even with just under two years to go before suiting up for the Gators, Dixon will make a huge impact in a number of different events. Her best time in the 400 IM is already fast enough to have scored in the A-final at the 2020 SEC Championships, while she would’ve placed in the B-final of the 200 back and the C-final of both the 100 back and 200 fly.
