FSU Seminoles Collect Four 2021 Verbals from Jenny Bird, Alexandra Dicks, Ella Dyjak & Rachel Moran

NEW COMMITS: Florida State University has recently picked up four new verbal commitments for their class of 2025 from Jenny Bird, Alexandra Dicks, Ella Dyjak and Rachel Moran.

All four swimmers will add valuable depth to the Seminoles’ lineup when they arrive in Tallahassee at the start of the 2021-22 season. Florida State recently finished seventh at the 2020 ACC Championships.

JENNY BIRD

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I have been wanting to go to FSU since I starting going to swim camp there three years ago! The team was very welcoming and it really felt like a family. I can’t wait to call Florida State my home! Go Noles!!”

A native of St. John’s, Fla., Bird swims year-round with Loggerhead Aquatics and recently raced two events at Juniors East in December. This past summer, she earned a best time at Greensboro Futures and placed sixth in the 100 back at the 2019 Florida Spring Championships.

Also competing for Creekside High School, Bird is a six-time Florida 3A/4A State Championship finalist. She finished third in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 fly as a junior while taking fourth and seventh, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

200 fly – 2:02.60
100 back – 56.01
200 back – 2:04.64

ALEXANDRA DICKS

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Florida State University!!! I would like to thank my friends, family, and coaches for helping me get to where I am today! GO NOLES!”

Hailing from Vienna, Va., Dicks owns two Junior National standards and swims year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club, most recently winning the 100 free at Potomac Valley Seniors. She earned a best time at the Toyota U.S. Open in December and notched a trio of best times at NCSAs this past summer.

Also competing for James Madison School, Dicks is a five-time Virginia Class 6A State Championship finalist. The talented sprinter earned silver in the 50 free and bronze in the 100 free as a junior while taking fourth in the 50 free and 11th in the 100 back during her sophomore season.

100 free – 50.16
100 fly – 55.80

ELLA DYJAK

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Florida State University! I can’t wait to continue my athletic and academic career at FSU, thank you to everyone that has helped and supported me! #FSUatFSU #GoNoles”

The Waterford, Conn. native does her club swimming with Connecticut Aquatic Club and owns three Winter Juniors cuts as a distance freestyler. She won the 1000/1650 free combo at Connecticut Seniors last month after recording a best time in the mile at Juniors East.

Dyjak earned 100% lifetime bests with four top-8 finishes at Connecticut LCM Seniors this past summer before going on to win the 400m free, earn silver in the 1500m free, and place eighth in the 800m free at Geneva Futures. A junior attending Waterford High School, Dyjak competed at the Connecticut State Championships as a freshman.

200 free – 1:53.53
500 free – 4:56.51
1000 free – 10:06.22
1650 free – 16:52.72

RACHEL MORAN

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Florida State University! Thank you to my coaches, family, teachers, and teammates who have helped me on my academic and athletic journey. I am so grateful for all of your support! Go Noles!”

Moran, who has achieved the Juniors standard in the 200 breast, does her club swimming with T2 Aquatics and finished 12th in that event at Juniors East. Last summer, she placed 10th in the 200m breast and 14th in the 100m breast at Gainesville Sectionals before notching three best times at Greensboro Futures.

Moran is also a four-time Florida 3A/4A State Championship finalist while representing Gulf Coast High School. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished sixth in the 100 breast and 14th in the 200 IM as a junior after taking sixth and 10th, respectively, in those events during her sophomore campaign.

200 breast – 2:16.26
200 IM – 2:08.65
