NEW COMMIT: Liberty University has received a new early verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from freestyler and breaststroker Ella Kahn of Reading, Pa.

She will join Malia Francis as a member of the Lady Flames’ Class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Liberty University! I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches for helping me get to this point. I am so grateful to get to be part of such an amazing program. GO FLAMES!”

Kahn, who trains year-round with Reading and Berks County YMCA, placed fourth in the 100 breast with a pair of additional top-10 finishes at the PA YMCA East District Championships last March. In Summer 2019, she had four tip-12 finishes at the PA YMCA State Championships before going on to earn four best times at Middle Atlantic LCM Seniors.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.72
  • 100 free – 54.05
  • 100 breast – 1:07.96
  • 200 breast – 2:33.84

Also competing for Wilson High School, Kahn is a four-time individual Pennsylvania District 03 AAA Championship finalist. She raced to 12th in the 100 breast and 13th in the 50 free as a junior while taking 12th in both the 100 breast and 200 free during her sophomore season.

Under head coach Jake Shellenberger, Liberty clinched their third conference title in program history at the 2020 CCSA Championships.
