Dolan Grisbaum, Justin Liao Announce Verbal Commitments to Boston University

NEW COMMITS: Boston University has picked up a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Ocean City, NJ native Dolan Grisbaum and Justin Liao of Katy, Texas.

Both talented swimmers will join Michael Iacobelli as a member of the Terriers’ Class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am stoked to announce my verbal commitment to Boston University. I can’t wait to further my education and swimming career at such a prestigious school. Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for helping me along the way. Go Terriers!!”

Grisbaum trains year-round with Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club and recorded seven best times at the TPIT Christmas Invitational in December where his highest finish was a fourth-place showing in the 400 IM. Last summer, he recorded five top-15 finishes at Middle Atlantic LCM Seniors before going on to place 12th in the 800m free at Geneva Futures.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:45.36
  • 500 free – 4:36.51
  • 1000 free – 9:25.82
  • 1650 free – 15:56.57
  • 200 IM – 1:57.17

Also competing for Ocean City High School, Grisbaum is a three-time New Jersey Meet of Champions finalist. He placed seventh in the 500 free and 14th in the 200 IM as a junior while taking 14th in the former event during his sophomore season.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am so blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to Boston University! I am so Honor to be able to continue my academic and swimming career at Boston University!! I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and family for helping me get to this point. Can’t wait to be a part of an amazing team!! Go Terriers!!”

Liao does his club swimming with Katy Aquatics and collected gold in both the 100 breast and 200 breast at the Gulf Short Course Champs in February. He earned two best times at Juniors West in December and placed 18th in the 200m breast at NCSAs last long course season.

His best times include:

  • 50 breast – 26.69
  • 100 breast – 56.78
  • 200 breast – 2:05.14
  • 200 IM – 1:57.82

Currently a senior at Seven Lakes High School, Liao has competed at the Texas 6A State Championships the last two years. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American also won the 100 breast as a junior at the UIL 6A Region 05 Championships.
