NEW COMMIT: Ladera Ranch, Calif. native and U.S. Open qualifier Anders Aistars has decided to remain in-state for his college career after verbally committing to the University of Southern California beginning in the fall of 2022.

He will join Griffin O’Leary and Charlie Arnold as a member of the Trojans’ Class of 2026.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m thrilled and humbled to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Southern California. Big thanks to my parents, coaches, and friends for supporting me along the way. Fight on! ✌️”

A rangy freestyler, Aistars does his club swimming with the Mission Viejo Nadadores and most recently picked up three best times at the TYR Pro Swim Series – Richmond where he posted four top-3 finishes. He had a great showing at the Toyota US Open in November and was a five-time College Station Sectional finalist in 2020.

In Summer 2019, he won two events at the MVN Junior Olympics before going on to place 17th in the 1500m free at Mount Hood Futures.

His best times include:

  • 100 free – 45.96
  • 200 free – 1:39.31
  • 500 free – 4:28.67
  • 1000 free – 9:25.99
  • 1650 free – 15:32.50

Currently a junior at Tesoro High School, Aistars competed at the CIF Souther DI Section Championships as a freshman. He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in his career thus far.

When he arrives on campus in the fall of 2022, O’Leary will add his talents to a freestyle training group that will be led by incoming freshman Daniel Matheson. In May, Jeremy Kipp was announced as the new head coach of USC.
