Colorado State Collects Set of Verbal Commitments from Erin Dawson, Maya White

NEW COMMIT: Colorado State University has added a new set of verbal commitments to the growing Class of 2025 from Sparks, Nevada native Erin Dawson and Maya White of Rockwall, Texas.

Both talented swimmers will suit up for the Rams at the start of the 2021-22 season along with Emily Chorpening and Katie McClelland.

Under head coach Chris Woodard, Colorado State finished fifth at the 2020 Mountain West Championships.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to Colorado State University!! I’m so grateful to be able to swim for such a great program and great teammates and coaches! I can’t wait to be a RAM and make CSU my home for the next 4 years! Thank you to my coaches, family, teammates, and God for this wonderful opportunity. GO RAMS!!!”

Dawson does her club swimming with Sparks Piranhas and most recently placed 18th in the 400 IM at the Washington Open in January after recorded seven top-6 finishes at the Nevada State Championships in November. Last summer, she raced three events at Mount Hood Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 200 IM – 2:05.82
  • 400 IM – 4:28.45
  • 200 fly – 2:04.88
  • 500 free – 5:04.50

Also competing for Reed High School, Dawson earned bronze in both the 200 IM and 500 free as a sophomore at the Nevada 3A & 4A State Championships.

MAYA WHITE

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Colorado State University! Thank you so much to my family, friends, and coaches for helping me get to where I am today!! I can’t wait to be a part of CSU! Go Rams!!”

White swims year-round with Rockwall Aquatic Center of Excellence and recorded eight best times at College Station Sectionals in March. She finaled in the 200m breast at Austin Sectionals last summer before going on to notch three best times at the American LCM Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:07.24
  • 200 breast – 2:20.75
  • 500 free – 4:56.66
  • 1000 free – 10:17.99

A current senior at Rockwall High School, White raced to sixth in the 500 free at the Texas 6A State Championships during her junior campaign. She also placed fourth in the 500 free and ninth in the 100 breast at the 6A Region 03 meet in 2020.
