Catie DeLoof announced on social media on Wednesday that she will be moving from San Diego, California across the country to Charlottesville, Virginia to train with Todd DeSorbo at the University of Virginia. DeLoof follows her sister Ali, who recently announced she will be moving to the University of Tennessee after all three DeLoof sisters spent the last year training together at Team Elite in San Diego under David Marsh.

Catie DeLoof will be joining a very strong Virginia team that was seeded to win this year’s national championship before the meet was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Her best events are the 50 and 100 freestyle as she was ranked 9th in the United States in the 100 free and 10th in the 50 free in 2019.

DeLoof swam for the University of Michigan, where she helped the team win three Big Ten titles and also finish in the top four at NCAAs in 2018 and 2019. Individually, she was as high as sixth in the 200 free and eighth in the 100 free as a senior at the 2019 NCAAs.

Virginia is a rapidly improving training spot as DeSorbo has really built the women’s team into a national power as she approaches his fourth season at the helm. His postgrad group is starting to grow as he also is training 2016 Olympian Jack Conger.
