Braden Osborn of Mason Manta Rays Announces Verbal to West Virginia for 2021-22

NEW COMMIT: Mason, Ohio native Braden Osborn has handed West Virginia University their first verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond, and he will arrive in Morgantown as a member of the class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to West Virginia University! I am super excited to continue my swimming and academic career as a Mountaineer. I would like to thank my parents, Manta Ray, and High School coaches.
Let’s go Mountaineers!!”

A talented freestyler and butterflyer, Osborn does his club swimming with Mason Manta Rays and is a Junior National qualifier. He most recently earned 100% best times at the MAKO Senior Circuit after racing three events at Juniors East. Last summer, he finished fourth in the 100m fly at Geneva Futures.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.81
  • 100 free – 45.71
  • 200 free – 1:41.65
  • 500 free – 4:37.14
  • 100 fly – 49.33

Also competing for Mason High School, Osborn has competed at the Ohio State Championships the last two seasons. He placed sixth in the 50 free and seventh in the 100 fly as a junior while competing on the 4×100 free relay during his sophomore season.

Under head coach Vic Riggs, the Mountaineers finished second overall in the team standings at the 2020 Big 12 Championships.
