Arkansas freestyler Peyton Palsha last week announced she will transfer to the University of Georgia for her fifth and final year of eligibility.

Palsha spent four years at Arkansas, qualifying for the NCAA Championships this season and turning in several lifetime bests. An agriculture major, she’s pursuing a master’s degree in Athens.

The native of St. Petersburg, Fla., announced the decision on Instagram.

At the 2021 NCAA Championships, Palsha finished 12th in the mile and was 17th in the 500 free.

She went 1:45.25 to lead off Arkansas’s 10th-place 800 free relay at the 2021 SEC Championships. Palsha took third place in the 500, third in the mile and fifth in the 400 IM at that meet. She also anchored the Razorbacks’ 400 free relay with a split of 50.02.

Palsha swam at NCAAs as a freshman in 2018, finishing 20th in the mile and 37th in the 500 free. A second-team All-SEC pick this season, Palsha grabbed the HPER Natatorium record in the 1,000 free at 9:44.68 in her final home meet.

Palsha’s SEC time in the mile was 15:58.42, a lifetime-best. She also set her career-best in the 400 IM (4:08.02), and her time in the 500 of 4:39.87 was just a tenth off a lifetime best from her junior season.

The 200 free split is also a lifetime best and should figure into the relay picture for Georgia. The Bulldogs finished third in the race at SECs with a pair of relay-start 1:46s and fifth at NCAAs with a 1:47 in there.
