Are You A Top 20 Swimmer In Your Zone?

Each week, USA Swimming releases their top 20 zone times. Swimming World will provide a unique analysis of the zones each week. Here, you’ll find the zones’ strengths, top athletes, and top times.

USA Swimming Eastern Zone

Girls: In the 11-year old girls age group, Greater Holyoke YMCA’s Ava Larkin (1000 free) and Commonwealth Swimming’s Natalie Mannion (50 back) recorded top times in the Eastern Zone. Angelina Harris of the Three Village Swim Club provided the only new top times for the 12-year old girls in the 50 and 100 breast.

Virginia Gators teammates Olivia Bray (100 back, 200 back, and 100 fly) and Caroline Kulp (200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM, and 100 breast) notched top times for the 14-year old girls. Anna Kalandadze of Radnor Aquatic Club also chipped in a top time in the 1650 free. Another pair of Gators teammate – Emma Muzzy (100 back, 200 back, 200 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM) and Cabell Whitlow (200 fly) – topped the 15-year old girls’ list. Sarah Grinds of Wesport/Weston Family Y Swim Team claimed three top times in the 50, 100, and 200 free, while Maggie Wallace of the Egg Harbor Township Seahawks swam a zone-best 1000 free for the age group.

757 Swim’s Joelle Vereb sprinted to the top of the 16-year old girls 50 and 100 free. Egg Harbor’s Amanda Hunan (1000 free), Tide Swimming’s Callie Dickinson (200 back), and Weston Swimming’s Sophie Angus (200 breast) took new top spots for the 16-year old girls.

Molly Kowal of the Jersey Wahoos busted out four top times in the 1000 free, 1650 free, 200 breast, and 400 IM for the 17-year old girls. Ky-lee Perry of the Wilton Y Wahoos Swim Club (100 free), Karlee Carminati of the Germantown Academy Aquatic Club (500 free), and Delaney Walz of the Greater Philadelphia Aquatic Club (200 fly) also provided top zone times. Vivian Tafuto (100 breast and 200 breast) and Peyton Baldwin (200 fly) swam top times for the 18-year old girls.

Boys: Ryan Mitchener of the Manhattan Makos led the 11-year old boys in the Eastern Zone with an impressive five new top times in the 50 free, 100 IM, 200 IM, 50 breast, and 100 breast. Watchpoint NYC’s Nick Radkov and Egg Harbor Township Seahawks swimmer Brandon Bell tied for the top time in the 12-year old boys’ 100 IM with a 1:00.08.

In the 13-year old boys age group, David Curtiss of the Tri-Hampton YMCA Swim Team (50 and 100 free) and Jack Moore of Snow Swimming (200 free and 200 IM) each chipped in two new zone bests. Matt Magness of Golden Ram Aquatics tore up the 14-year old boys with four top times in the 200 and 500 free, 200 fly, and 400 IM. Three Village Swim Club’s Jason Louser also nabbed two top times in the 100 and 200 breast.

Another Manhattan Makos swimmer, Dillon Hillis, popped off three zone bests in the 100 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM for the 15-year old boys. Old Dominion Aquatic Club’s Caleb Mauldin (100 and 200 back) and Quest Swimming’s Brennan Doss (500 free) also swam top times.

Doss’s teammate Clark Beach zoomed to the top of the 16-year old boys list in the 200 free and 200 back. Virginia Gators teammates Khalil Fonder (100 back and 100 fly) and Keith Myburgh (100 breast and 200 IM) etched their names atop the zone as well. They were joined by Crimson Aquatics’ Calvin Yang (200 breast) and Egg Harbor Township’s Justin LiuPhillip Meffert of Quest Swimming provided the only top time for the 17-year old boys with his 57.01 100 breast.

Colin McHugh (100 and 200 breast), Thomas Dillinger (50 and 100 free), Zach Fong (200 fly and 400 IM), and Sam Magnan (500 free and 1650 free) all notched two top times apiece for the 18-year old boys. Bryce Keblish (100 fly), Michael Thomas (200 IM), Cole Buese (200 back), and Austin Ryan (200 free) also contributed new top times to the zone.

USA Swimming Central Zone

Girls: Maggie Mallett of the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins swam a 28.80 50 back to lead the 11-year old girls age group. Isabella Pytel of the Academy Bullets Swim Club dominated the 12-year old girls events with six new zone bests in the 50 free, 100 free, 50 fly, 100 fly, 100 IM, and 200 IM. Eliot Kennedy of Waves Bloomington topped the 500 and 1650 free, while Ellie Macphail of Great Lakes Sailfish Swimming (200 back) and Mariah Denigan of the Northern Kentucky Clippers (400 IM) also swam top times.

Peter’s teammate Tiffany Matulis zoomed to the top 13-year old 100 breast time with her 1:06.88. Her teammate, Sydney Vanovermeiren, led the 14-year old girls’ 200 breast. Kelly Pash of Carmel Swim Club and Phoebe Langius of Great Lakes Sailfish Swimming also swam zone bests for the age group.

Northern Kentucky Clipper teammates Sophie Skinner and Mallory Biel dominated the 15-year old girls’ list. Skinner swam zone bests in the 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 200 back, 200 IM, and 400 IM, while Biel topped the 100 and 200 fly races. Ohio State Swim Club’s Janessa Mathews (100 and 200 breast) and Academy Bullets swimmer Audrey Coffey (1000 free) topped the age group alongside Waves Bloomington’s Sidney Kennedy (1650 free).

Mckenzee Gordon of Waves Bloomington (1650 free) and Taylor Pike of the Razorback Aquatic Club Aquahawgs (100 and 200 fly) led the 16-year old girls age group. Two more Clipper teammates – Mikayla Herich (1000 free) and Madeleine Vonderhaar (100 and 200 breast) – recorded new top times for the 17-year old girls.

Marysol Arce (1650 free) and Taylor Garcia (100 back) were the lone changes atop the 18-year old girls’ age group.

Boys: In the 11-year old boys age group, Andrew Rogers of the Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team recorded three new top times in the 100 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Dean Rodgers of the Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club also added a top 50 free time to the list with his 24.82.

Rodgers’s teammate Parker Nolan busted out top times in the 50 free and 50 fly. Tyler Hong of Lake Shore Swim Club also swam two top times in the 500 free and 200 back, while Hayden Zheng of the Aquajets Swim Team swam a zone-topping 200 breast.

Nearly every event witnessed a new zone best in the 13-year old boys age group. Jacob McDonald of the Cincinnati Marlins blasted six new top times in the 100, 200, 500, and 1650 free, the 200 back, and 100 fly. Forrest Frazier of the Iowa Flyers Swim Club (100 back and 200 IM). Seth Young of the Northern Kentucky Clippers (200 fly and 400 IM), and Thomas Reedy of Waves Bloomington (100 breast and 200 breast) popped off two zone bests apiece. Alex Ware of the Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team provided a top time as well with his 22.34 50 free.

McDonald’s teammate Ansel Froass topped the 14-year old boys with his 2:10.90 200 breast. Andrew Rafalko of Carmel Swim Club (100 breast) and Owen Conley of the Dayton Raiders (400 IM) also led the age group with new top times. Rafalko’s teammate Drew Kibler swam a zone best in the 200 free for the 15-year old boys, alongside Columbia Swim Club’s Zach Lorson‘s two new top times in the 500 and 1000 free.

Dayton Raiders teammates Cody Bybee (200 free and 200 back) and Eric Knowles (400 IM) provided top times for the 16-year old boys. Shaker Sharks swimmer Max Gustafson also gutted out a 9:39.13 zone-topping 1000 free for the age group. Nick Smith of the Northern Kentucky Clippers took two top times for the 17-year old boys in the 1000 and 1650 free. Columbia Swim Club’s Alex Tschopp (500 free) and Redbird Swim Club’s Andrew Loy (200 free) also swam zone bests.

Smith’s teammate and Arizona commit Brendan Meyer took the top time in three distance races for the 18-year old boys with his 500, 1000, and 1650 free. Devon Nowicki (100 and 200 breast) and Mark Andrew (200 and 400 IM) rounded out the Central Zone with top times.

USA Swimming Southern Zone

Girls: Raleigh Swimming Association’s Sarah Howell (200 back) and Claire Curzan (50 and 100 fly) led the way for the 11-year old girls. They were joined at the top by Saint Petersburg Aquatics swimmer Emma Forrister (500 free) and Gator Swim Club’s Sydney Kang (200 IM).

Swim Florida’s Olivia McMurray nabbed four new top times for the 12-year old girls in the 100 free, 500 free, 200 back, and 400 IM. Gretchen Walsh of Nashville Aquatic Club (200 free, 100 back, and 200 IM), Olivia Peoples of Bolles School Sharks (100 IM), Molly Golding of South Florida Aquatic Club (200 breast), and Corbyn Cormack of the North Texas Nadadores (100 breast) also swam zone bests.

Dynamo’s Tristen Ulett topped five events for the 13-year old girls in the 100 free, 200 free, 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 IM. Shannon Raab of Nashville Aquatic Club chipped in two top times in the 100 and 200 back, and her teammate Alex Massey swam a zone-best 400 IM in 4:25.67. Emma Weyant of the Sarasota YMCA Sharks (200 breast and 1650 free) and Jewel Krings of the Madison Swimming Association (100 breast) contributed top times as well.

Ulett’s teammates Abby Grottle (1000 free) and Addie Farrington (100 breast) swam top times for the 14-year old girls. They were joined by Nashville Aquatic Club teammates Ella Nelson (200 breast and 200 IM) and Alex Walsh (100 back), Christina Cianciolo of Sarasota YMCA (1650 free), and Addie Rose Bullock of Stingrays (100 and 200 fly).

Christin Rockway of Tampa Bay Aquatics (200 back and 100 breast), Julia Menkhaus of SwimMAC (200 free), and Julia Cook of the Aggie Swim Club (100 back) now lead in the 15-year old girls age group. Chattahoochee Gold Swim Club’s Emma Cole (200 free) and Jaclyn Hill (100 breast) topped the 16-year old girls’ list. Emmaline Peterson of the Hickory Foundation YMCA Seahorse Swim Team led the way in the 500 free and 1650 free. Jordan Kohut of the YMCA of the Triangle Area Swim Team (100 back) and Ellery Parish (1000 free) made the top of the list as well.

Tatum Wade of Nashville topped the 17-year old girls age group in the 200 free and 200 fly, while Chattahoochee Gold Swim Club’s Lexi Glunn made waves atop the 200 breast rankings. Olivia Anderson (100 and 200 breast), Katrina Konopka (50 and 100 free), Joanna Evans (1650 free), Megan Moroney (100 fly), and Bailey Nero (200 fly) all swam new top times in the 18-year old girls’ list.

Boys: Raleigh Swimming Association’s Joe Bunger swam four zone bests for the 11-year old boys in the 200 free, 100 fly, 200 IM and 400 IM. Lakeside Swim Team’s Lucas Thomas also provided a top time for the age group in the 100 breast. SwimMAC’s Stephen Kim (50 breast and 200 breast), Athens Bulldog Swim Club’s Ryan Wylie (1000 free and 50 back), Texas Ford Aquatics’ Mithuun Ramesh (100 breast, 50 fly, and 100 fly), Sarasota YMCA’s Colton Frantz (100 IM), and South Florida Aquatic Club’s Nicolas Rossi (1650 free) all swam top times for the 12-year old boys.

Rossi’s teammate Rafael Rodriguez cranked out zone bests for the 13-year old boys in the 500 and 1650 free as well as the 400 IM. Taylor Williams of Memphis Thunder Aquatic Club popped off top times in the 100 back, 100 and 200 breast, and 200 IM. Mikael Getahoun of SwimAtlanta (200 back) and Braeden Knight of Episcopal AmberJax (100 and 200 fly) also swam zone-topping times.

Wen Zhang sprinted to the top of the 50 and 100 free for the 14-year old boys. Knight’s teammate Sterling Crane zoomed atop the 100 and 200 fly rankings, while Hickory Foundation YMCA’s Ross Dant (1000 free and 1650 free) and Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (100 back) also provided top times.

Brady Fields of the Marietta Marlins (50 free), Will Tarvestad of Triton Swimming (100 free), Trey Freeman of Baylor Swim Club (200 free), Aitor Fungairino of the Metro Aquatic Club of Miami (1650 free), and Mikey Calvillo (1000 free) all swam top times for the 15-year old boys.

Robert Finke of Saint Petersburg Aquatics notched top times in the 1650 free and 400 IM for the 16-year old boys. Upper Palmetto YMCA’s Nathaniel Hartley (200 back), Chattahoochee Gold Swim Club’s Jack Dalmolin (200 breast), and Mississippi Makos Swim Team’s Blaise Vera (50 free) also recorded top times in the age group.

Andrey Tretyakov (100 fly and 200 IM) and Swim Fort Lauderdale’s Julien Pinon (200 fly) provided new times atop the 17-year old boys’ age group. In the 18-year old boys age group, Townley Haas ripped off four zone bests in the 100, 200, 500, and 1650 free. Jackson Tate‘s 50 free also topped the list alongside Liam McCloskey (100 fly), Sam Stewart (400 IM), John Shebat (100 back and 200 IM), and Mason Tenney (200 fly).

USA Swimming Western Zone

Girls: Justina Kozan of Brea Aquatics pulled out four top times for the 11-year old girls last weekend in the 1000 free, 200 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Claire Tuggle of Clovis Swim Club (200 and 500 free) and Ysabel Chen of Santa Clara Swim Club (200 breast) also led the zone.

Katie Mitchell of the Crow Canyon Country Club Seahawks topped the 12-year old girls in the 50 free, 200 free, 50 fly, 100 fly, and 50 breast. Cabrillo Threshers swimmer Kailyn Winter tied Mitchell with the best 50 free time at 24.94. Lilly Mazzi of the FAST Swim Team (500 free, 1000 free, and 200 fly), Nicole Stiles of Santa Clara (1650 free), Neeyati Devanagondi of De Anza Cupertino Aquatics (200 back)and Nadia Bouraoui of Santa Clara (200 and 400 IM) also swam zone bests.

Ella Ristic (100 and 200 free) and Mia Ristic (200 back) of the Mission Viejo Nadadores popped off top times for the 13-year old girls. The Olympic Club teammates Kaitlyn Panopio (100 back), Lauren McCormack (100 breast), and Crystal Murphy (100 and 200 fly) also joined for zone bests. Abby Arne of Irvine Novaquatics (200 IM), Bianka Yongyuth of Santa Clara (400 IM), Anicka Delgado of the Gators Swim Club (50 free), and Libby Williams of the Yucaipa Swim Team (500 and 1000 free) all recorded new zone bests.

Irvine Novaquatics teammates Ayla Spitz (100 free) and Sage Matsushima (100 fly) topped the 14-year old girls list. Stephanie Su of the Anaheim Aquatics Association (500 and 1650 free) and Zoie Hartman (200 IM) of the Crow Canyon Country Club Sharks also provided new zone bests for the age group.

Breaststroke phenom Nikol Popov of Canyons Aquatic Club leads the way for the 16-year old girls in the 100 and 200 breast. In the 17-year old girls’ ranks, Ryan Falk of Tualatin Hills Swim Club now owns the top times in the 500 and 1650 free.

In the 18-year old girls age group, Annie Ochitwa (100 back and 100 fly), Hanni Leach (200 back), Georges Daniels (500 free), and Kirsten Vose (100 and 200 breast) all swam new zone bests.

Boys: Ronal Dalmacio of Rose Bowl Aquatics torched the pool for the 11-year old boys with six top times in the 50 and 200 free, 50 and 100 back, and 100 and 200 IM. Irvine Novaquatics swimmer Joel Hernandez also topped the age group in the 400 IM with his 4:48.15. Matthew Chung of the Santa Clara Swim Club (400 IM), Vincent Cheng of Brea Aquatics (100 fly), Hank Rivers of Long Beach Shore Aquatics (50 breast), and Austin Lane of Clovis Swim Club (50 free) all etched their names atop the 12-year old boys’ list.

Orinda Aquatics teammates Max Cruz Costello (200 free) and Will Nagle (500 free) topped the 13-year old boys’ list. Davis Arden Racing Team’s Luca Urlando recorded two top times in the 100 back and 200 back, as did Peak Swimming’s Andy Huang in the 200 and 400 IM. Danny Syrkin of Rose Bowl Aquatics (100 fly), Lleyton Piattel of the Pleasanton Seahawks (1650 free), and Christopher Roling of Santa Clara Swim Club (1000 free) also swam top times for the age group.

Ethan Heasley of Hillsboro Swim Team recorded three top times for the 14-year old boys in the 200 fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM. Tualatin Hills Swim Club’s Trent Martinez turned in two top times in the 200 and 500 free, while Kevin Tu of Irvine Novaquatics (200 back) and Rick Courrieu of Rattler Swim Club (100 back) provided top times in the backstroke races.

David Wang of La Mirada Armada (1000 free), Henry Blaul of Seaside Aquatic Club (100 breast), and Gabriel Munoz of Irvine Novaquatics (200 fly) swam top times for the 15-year old boys. Penguin Aquatics swimmer Jared Graham gutted out top times in the 1000 and 1650 free for the 16-year old boys. Tanner Olson also chipped in two top times. The Canyons Aquatic Club swimmer topped the 100 free in 45.74 and 200 breast in 2:00.46. Casey McEuen‘s 50 free (21.07) was also enough for a zone best.

Ryan Hoffer of Scottsdale Aquatic Club (200 free), Scott Tolman of Ripon Aquatics (200 breast), and Timmy Hanson of Aquazot Swim Club (400 IM) provided new top times for the 17-year old boys. Nick Norman notched two top times in the 18-year old boys age group with his 500 and 1650 free. Carson Sand (100 breast), Ken Takahashi (400 IM), and Kyle Grissom (50 free) rounded out the West with top times.
