Amy Bilquist: “This Means Everything to Me” (VIDEO INTERVIEW)

Injuries can affect anyone’s mentality and make any athlete question whether or not they want to continue with a sport, and that’s exactly what happened to Amy Bilquist. Thankfully, she persevered and now has a National title to show for it.

Earlier in the summer, Bilquist suffered an injury to her hand in warm-ups, which resulted in a broken hand. After getting her hand taped by some lifeguards and attempting to race, she realized that she needed to go to Urgent Care and went from there. Bilquist was very thankful she didn’t need surgery and was able to continue her training.

For Bilquist, this swim meant everything to her and was about more than just herself. This was also about her support system and everyone who has supported her recently. She also credits her new training atmosphere in Scottsdale and the relaxed atmosphere of the teenagers she is surrounded by for keeping her calm.
