Water polo player Adam Wright is among nine inductees to the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020, announced Wednesday night.

Wright is one of six Olympic medalists in the class, having earned a silver with the U.S. team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He remains at the school as the head coach of the men’s (since 2009) and women’s since 2018) water polo teams.

Wright was a three-time All-American and four-time All-MPSF pick during his time in the pool at UCLA. He scored 128 career goals, leading UCLA to the 1999 and 2000 NCAA championships. A long-time fixture in the national team, Wright represented Team USA at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics, the high-water mark being the Beijing silver. Wright scored four goals and dished a team-best nine assists in that tournament.

Wright has won six NCAA championships, including one as an assistant for the UCLA women’s team in 2009. He coached the UCLA men’s team to titles in 2014, 2015 and 2017, in the process setting the NCAA record for consecutive victories (57). A three-time national coach of the year, Wright was inducted to the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame in 2019.

Joining Adam Wright in the 2020 class are basketball players Kevin Love, Noelle Quinn and Russell Westbrook; soccer player Lauren (Cheney) Holiday; softball player Keira Goerl; track & field athlete Mike Powell; baseball player Dave Roberts; and gymnast Tasha Schwikert. Bios of the inductees are available here.
