2019 Speedo Sectional Columbia Day 4: Flyers Aquatics Wins

The 2019 Region VIII Speedo Spring Sectional meet went into its final day of competition at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Missouri. The events featured tonight include the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 fly, 50 breast and 400 free relay.

After the conclusion of competition, the leading eight teams of the competition are as follows:

1. Flyers Aquatic Swim Team – 1540.5

2. Empire KC Swim Club – 1304

3. Parkway Swim Club –  1267

4. CSP Tideriders – 1245.5

5. Columbia Swim Club – 1196.5

6.  American Energy Swim Club– 1185

7. Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopard- 1167.5

8. Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team – 1061

Women’s 1650 Free

The winner was Grace Beahan from Columbia Swim Club in a time of 16:52.71. In second was Joanna Dohrman from Csp Tideriders in a time of 16:56.37. Rounding out the top three Madison Rey from Flyers Aquatic Swim Team in a time 17:16.99. Lauren Hervey of Columbia Swim Club in a time of 17:17.30 was fourth. Payton Kollmorgen of Lincoln Select Swimming was fifth in a time of 17:18.05. In sixth was Morgan Jones of Ad Astra Area Aquatics in a time of 17:25.85. NoraLee Brown of Csp Tideriders was seventh in a time of 17:35.02. Maya Ferrell of King Marlin Swim Club was eighth in a time of 17:35.42.

Men’s 1650 Free

Jacob Wielinski of the University of Missouri was the victor in a time of 14:48.61. Evan Holt of CNS was second (15:33.84) and Christopher Callan Trident Aquatics Club was third (15:36.51). They were followed by Harold Tjaden of Empire KC Swim Club (15:47.02) was fourth and Hunter Denison (15:47.30) was fifth. Luke Valley of Columbia Swim Club was sixth in a time of 15:48.26. In seventh and eighth were Ryan Baker of Parkway Swim Club (15:49.10) and Jonathan Hill (15:56.53).

Women’s 200 Back

Isabella Oantano of Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopard was first with a time of 1:5852. In second and third were Zoe Thatcher of Flyers Aquatic Swim Team (1:59.38) and Astrid Dirkzwagner, Wichita Swim Club, (2:00.17). Alexandra Hathaway, unattached, was fourth with a time 2:00.27. Allie Rogers of The Aquakids Inc was fifth in a time of 2:01.19. Elizabeth Richardson of Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopard was sixth with a time of 2:01.62. Mara Manion of Columbia Swim Club (2:04.03) and Sydney Cole of Aquatic Club of Elkhorn (2:04.96) were seventh and eighth.

Men’s 200 Back

Jack Dolan of Rockwood Swim Club touched first in a time of 1:45.98. Touching second was Mateo Miceli of Sarpy County Swim Club in a time of 1:47.01. Third was Kevin Glenn of Kansas City Blazers in a time of 1:47.35. Jacob Bening of River City Aquatics was fourth (1:49.62). Ross Pantano of Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopard was fifth in a time of 1:49.89. Cole Junker of Seahawks Swim Club was sixth in a time of 1:50.04. Michael Franz of Parkway Swim Club was seventh in a time of 1:50.76. Andrew O’Brien of Csp Tideriders in a time of 1:50.79.

Women’s 100 Free

Lauren Votava of Kansas City Blazers was victorious in a time of 50.79. She was followed by Alyssa Bloser of Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team (50.82) and Elise Wehrmann of Flyers Aquatic Swim Team (51.14). Reagan Cathcart of Flyers Aquatic Swim Team was fourth (51.30) and she was followed closely by Courtney Harris of Rec Plex Sharks Swim Club (51.50) and Abigail Karl of Empire KC Swim Club (51.51). Sydney Schidt of Wichita Northwest YMCA Neptune was seventh in a time of 51.99. Casaundra Moses of Springfield Aquatics was eighth in a time of 52.52

Men’s 100 Free

Kiedi Kadiu, Csp Tideriders, was the first to touch the wall in a time of 44.63. Ryan Husband of Northwest Arkansas Aquatics was second in a close time of 44.66. Carter Nelson of Flyers Aquatic Swim Team was third in a time of 44.75. He out touched Luke Barr of Sarpy County Swim Club who went a 44.76. Aiden Hayes of Sooner Swim Club touched fifth in a time of 45.15. His team mate, Daniel Wilson touched sixth with a time of 45.26. Ty Wingfield of The Aquakids Inc (46.33) and Vincent Jaworski of Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team (46.91) were seventh and eighth respectively.

Women’s 200 Fly

Kate McCarville of Springfield Aquatics finished first in a time of 2:00.25. Madeline Marks of Northwest Arkansas Aquatics (2:02.91) and Audrey McKinnon of Razorback Aquatic Club (2:03.48) rounded out the top three. Lauren Naeger of Columbia Swim Club touched fourth in a time of 2:04.49. Karisa Franz of Parkway Swim Club was fifth in a time of 2:05.42. Autumn Looney of Rec Plex Sharks Swim Club was sixth in a time of 2:06.64. Paige Mitchell of Csp Tideriders was seventh in a time of 2:08.00 and Emily O’Connell of Rockwood Swim Club was eighth in a time of 2:08.08.

Men’s 200 Fly

In a close race, Aiden Hayes of Sooner Swim Club (1:47.01) touched the wall slightly before Rush Clark of Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopard (1:47.39). Luke Davis of American Energy Swim Club followed (1:47.97) in third. Noah Scheuermann of Parkway Swim Club was fourth in a time of 1:49.35. His team mate, Tyler Lewis touched fifth in a time of 1:50.01. William Ingram of American Energy Swim Club was sixth in a time of 1:51.37. Oakley Lorson of Columbia Swim Club was seventh in a time of 1:52.72 and Jack Dolan of Rockwood Swim Club was eighth in a time of 1:54.22.

Women’s 50 Breast

Aubree Brouwer of Springfield Aquatics (28.85) out touched Hanna Newby of American Energy Swim Club (28.86) for first. Jocelyn Randby of Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopard was third in 28.94. Olivia Dendinger  of Sarpy County Swim Club was fourth in a time of 29.22. Isabella Cothern of Dart Frog Aquatics was fifth in a time of 29.48. Jessica Bongfeldt of Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team was sixth in a time of 29.63. Olivia Mendenhll of Springfield Aquatics (29.76) and Audrey McKinnon of Razorback Aquatic Club (29.87) rounded out the top eight.

Men’s 50 Breast

Danel Worth of Empire KC Swim Club touched first in a time of 25.39. Anderson Mainord of The Aquakids Inc was second in a time of 25.80. Kledi Kadiu of Csp Tideriders was third in a time of 25.85. In fourth was Mihir Chandra of Rockwookd Swim Club in a time of 26.60. Austin Martin, unattached, tied for fifth in a time of 26.66 with Andrew O’Brein of Csp Tideriders. Ryan Clark of American Energy Swim Club was seventh in a time of 26.85.

Women’s 400 Free Relay

Flyers Aquatic Swim Team’s relay squad of Elise Wehrmann, Hannah Amelung, Zoe Thatcher and Reagan Cathcart were victorious in a time 3:28.48. Arkansas Dolphin swim team were second (3:28.48) and Springfield Aquatics were third (3:29.57).

Men’s 400 Free Relay

Sooner Swim Club’s team of Daniel Wilson, Jonathan Tang, Caleb McGuire-Gregory and Aiden Hayes won the event in a time of 3:01.96. American Energy Swim club finished second in a time of 3:04.41. Club North Swimming finished third in a time of 3:05.95.

Lauren Votava did indeed win the 100 free however she swims for ROCKWOOD SWIM CLUB .
