2019 NJCAA Championships Day 3: Indian River Dominates

Night three of the NJCAA Championships was an eventful one in Buffalo, New York. The Burt Flickinger Athletic Center saw a busy night with the following events: 100 IM, 500 free, 100 back, 100 Breast, 200 Fly, Men’s 1-Meter Diving and concluded with the 200 medley relays.

Women’s 100 IM

Elianna Kennon of Indian River had a significant win with a time of 58.98. Her team mate Camryn Wheals followed in second with a time of 1:00.13 and in third was Barton’s McKayla Siemiller with a time of 1:00.19. Following closely behind was her team mate, Elizabeth Spitz with a time of 1:00.97. Kenzy Green of Indian River was fifth with a time of 1:01.39. Abigail Aldridge of South Georgia was sixth with a time of 1:03.03 followed by Zoe Beals of Iowa Central (1:03.78) and Kaitlyn Hester of Southwestern Oregon (1:05.34).

Men’s 100 IM

Ryen Van Wyk of Indian River was victorious with a time of 49.74. James Camp of Southwestern Oregon was second with a time of 50.75. In a tie for third were team mates from Indian River Kevin Bargate (51.40) and Joshua Stegen (51.40). Rounded out the top eight were Emerson Zaplatar of Southwestern Oregon (51.98), Mitch Emery of Iowa Central (52.65), Caleb Gaylor of Iowa Central (54.59) and Simon Botton of Barton (54.59).

Women’s 500 Free

Charlise Oberholzer of Indian River won the event with a time of 5:00.73. She was followed by her team mates Sule Van Der Merwe (5:01.16) and Molly Layde (5:04.70) and Elizabeth Watts (5:11.50). In fourth was Verity Vogel-Rigler of Southwestern Oregon (5:19.22). She was followed by Eve Berg of Iowa Central (5:20.85), Adriana Rodrigues of Indian River (5:21.37) and Casey Hall of South Georgia (5:24.67).

Men’s 500 Free

Indian River’s Jarryd Baxter dominated the event with a time of 4:26.27. The top three were rounded out by his team mates also from Indian River, Tiger Pilkington (4:35.27) and Dante Pardon (4:40.54). Monroe’s Tyler Bischoping was fourth with a time of 4:40.82. He was followed by Vini Molz of Iowa Central (4:44.44), Marccelo Busch of Iowa Central (4:46.66), Cameron Wagner of Monroe (4:56.17) and Jacob Singleton of Indian River (5:00.66).

Women’s 100 Back

Sophia Diagne of Indian River won the event with a time of (56.45). In second and third were Southwestern Oregon team mates Patricija Ozola (57.86) and Piper Engler (59.23). Juliana Villa Rodrigues of Iowa Lakes followed closely with a time of 59.82 for fourth. Jillian Contich of Indiana River (1:00.37) was fifth. Casey Hall of South Georgia (1:00.69) was sixth. Kristen Farless of South Georgia (1:01.72) and Liz Crewe-Brown of Iowa Lakes (1:02.50) were seventh and eighth.

Men’s 100 Back

Team mates of Indian River, Conor Lynch (48.69) and Jared Ingram (49.31) were first and second. Iowa Central’s Mariano Sosa was third with a time of 51.87. Wyatt Dalton of South Georgia (52.38) was fourth and in fifth was Iowa Central’s John Gill III (53.32). Rounded out the top eight were Austin Turner of Southwestern Oregon (53.93), Barton’s Noah Childs (54.09) and South Georgia’s Ryan Buczkowski (54.23).

Women’s 100 Breast

Savanna Best of Indian River was victorious in a time of 1:02.45. She was followed by Emilie Andrin of Iowa Central in a time of 1:06.85 and Jessilyn Graham of South Georgia in a time of 1:07.14. Rounded out the top eight were Elizabeth Spitz of Southwestern Oregon (1:07.5), Hatalie Soive of Barton (1:11.14), Jaelyn Estabilio of Southwestern Oregon (1:11.54) and Samantha Karasinski of the Fashion Institute (1:15.51)

Men’s 100 Breast

Indian River’s Olle Williamsson won the event with a time of 55.25. In second and third were Iowa Central’s Emile Lutzeler (55.74) and Indian River’s Eric Veit (55.75). Closely following was Indian River’s Christian Nishimura (56.37), Southwestern Oregon’s Emerson Zaplatar (56.40), South Georgia’s Chris Mazier (56.52), Indian River’s Michael Hartshorne (57.85) and Barton’s Rory Smith (59.95)

Women’s 200 Fly

Camryn Hudson of Indian River won the event in a time of 2:03.23. Her team mate, Emma Colvin was second with a time of 2:09.95. Paula Ronda of Iowa Central was third with a time of 2:11.94. Her team mate, Mary Marshall was fourth with a time of 2:15.39. Lindsey Garrison of South Georgia was fifth with a time of 2:20.10. Ashleigh Beacham (2:24.40) of Iowa Central and Cali Angove (2:25.19) of South Georgia were sixth and seventh, respectively.

Men’s 200 Fly

Indian River’s Ruben Van Leeuwen won the event with a time of 1:46.16. His team mates, Tiger Pilkington (1:49.95) and Tucker Adams (1:50.15) were second and third. Mitch Emery of Iowa Central followed closely with a time of 1:50.40. Collin McGuire, of Southwestern Oregon, was the next person to get his hand on the wall in a time of 1:55.74. Leonard-Anre Olaru of Barton (1:57.11), Ferran Martinez of Genesee (1:57.43) and Marco Alvarez Sanchez of Barton (1:59.51) rounded out the top eight.

Men’s 1-Meter Diving

Jake Servaites of Indian River won diving with a score of 440.20. In second was Matt Priola, also of Indian River with a score of 414.80 17. Next was their team mate Michael Tsiopelas with a score of 405.60. In fourth was Loren Searle of Monroe with a score of 303.35 15

Women’s 200 Medley Relay

Indian River’s team of Sophia Diagne, Savanna Best, Emma Colvin and Elianna Kennon were victorious with a time of 1:43.02. Barton folloed in second with a time of 1:48.63 and in third was Southwestern Oregon wit a time of 1:51.01.

Men’s 200 Medley Relay

Indian River’s team of Ruben Van Leeuwen, Eric Veit, Ryen Van Wyk and Jared Ingram dominated the event with a time of 1:28.50. In second was Barton with a time of 1:32.20 and in a close third was Iowa Central with a time of 1:32.91.
