2019 French Championships Day 2: Charlotte Bonnet Sprints to Worlds

The second night of finals at the 2019 French Swimming Championships saw some amazing swims as swimmers try to qualify for world championships and other international competitions. The night’s events included the 50 free, men’s 1500 free, 100 back, 100 breast and the 200 free.

Women’s 50 Free

Charlotte Bonnet won the 50 at the 2019 French Swimming Championships with a time of 24.77 to qualify for worlds. She was followed by Melanie Henique (25.05) and Marie Wattel (25.14). In fourth was Anna Santamans 25.19. In fifth was Lena Santamans in a time of 25.25. Anouchka Martin (25.43), Faustine Prouff (25.69) and Mana-Elena Letang (25.77) rounded out the top eight.

Men’s 1500 Free

David Aubry won the national title at the 2019 French Swimming Championships with a time of 14:57.56. In second was Damien Joly (14:58.15) — both qualifying for worlds — and in third was Marc-Antoine Olivier (15:10.60). In fourth was Paul Beaugrand in a time of 15:12.32. In fifth was Ahmend-Ayoub Hafnaoui in a time of 15:27.25. Guillaume Roux (15:34.00), Paul Barascud (15:45.01) and Hugo Saillard (15:16.59) rounded out the top eight.

Women’s 100 Back

Beryl Gastaldello touched first with a time of 1:00.07 to qualify for worlds. In second was Pauline Mahieu in a time of 1:01.71. Lila Touili was third in a time of 1:02.02. She was followed by Mathilde Cini with a 1:02.11. Louise Lefebvre was fifth with a time of 1:03.55. In sixth was Bertille Cousson in a time of 1:03.93. Laurine Del’Homme was seventh with a time of 1:04.02 and Clothilde Cousson was eighth with a time of 1:05.17.

Men’s 100 Back

Yohann Ndoye Brouard was victorious with a time of 54.40. He was followed closely by Stanislas Huille (54.76), Paul-Gabriel Bedel (54.81) and Maxence Orange (54.92). Mewen Tomac was fifth in a time 55.20. Geoffroy Mathieu was sixth in a time of 55.41. Ladislas Salczer was seventh in a time of 55.44 and Souhaiel Chatti was eighth in a time of 55.58.

Women’s 100 Breast

Fanny Deberghes was first with a time of 1:08.60. Camille Dauba was second with a time of 1:09.28 and Justine Delmas was third with a time 1:10.47. Aureana Devaluez was fourth with a time of 1:10.57. Carmella Kitching was fifth in a time of 1:11.09. Meghan Frouin was sixth in a time of 1:11.20 and Lucie Delmas was seventh in a time of 1:11.49.

Men’s 200 Free

Jordan Pothain was first with a time of 1:47.33 to qualify for worlds. Roman Fuchs was second with a time of 1:48.63. Mehdi Lagili was third with a time of 1:48.65. Remi Meresse was fourth with a time of 1:49.22. Jonathan Atsu (1:49.48), Logan Fontaine (1:49.52), Alexandre Derache (1:51.42) and Lorys Bourelly (1:51.70) rounded out the top eight.
