Swimming World Throwback Thursday Video: Van Der Burgh Wins Commonwealth 100 Breast in 2010

DELHI, India, July 17. WE’RE exactly one week from the start of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, where a few swimmers will be looking to defend their titles from the 2010 edition that took place in the Indian capital.

Cameron Van Der Burgh of South Africa is one of them. He won the 100 breast in 2010 on his way to Olympic glory in the event in 2012. Van Der Burgh made a big breakthrough with the swim after a few years of being overshadowed by the likes of Kosuke Kitajima and Brenton Rickard.

In this Throwback Thursday video, you can watch Van Der Burgh’s amazing opening speed, which he used to hold off Australian Christian Sprenger. Van Der Burgh and Sprenger will be in a major battle for gold, though they might not be alone. (Check out our medal predictions.)
