Interview: Tyler Clary Talks Controversy on 200 Back Slip; Wish That He Could Swim 400 Free

GLASGOW, Scotland, December 20. TEAM USA’s Tyler Clary brings up a controversial topic in his interview with Swimming World’s Pamela Roberts at the Duel in the Pool.

In this conversation, Clary explains that the sponsor sticker that he slipped on during his 200 backstroke start is only found in the Team USA lanes. He said he’s voiced his concern about the issue, and that the change was made before the next race.

Clary also talks about not being able to swim in the 400 free, an event he holds the top time in the world in this year with a 3:36.86. Clary also brings up that he considered retiring this year after his extreme high of being an Olympic gold medalist.

Clary plans on remaining in the sport with some breaks here and there as he develops a better feel for training heading into 2016.
