Diana Nyad to Publish Memoir Detailing Life Chasing Cuba-to-Florida Dream

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 4. DIANA Nyad’s decades-long quest to swim from Cuba to Florida is set to be the major topic of the marathon legend’s upcoming memoir, set to be published in 2015.

Nyad, who graces the November cover of Swimming World Magazine, said in a statement today that the book will be about more than detailing her 53-hour swim, and the sacrifices she made to make it happen.

“At first blush, this sounds like the story of an epic endurance achievement,” she said. “But the narrative will follow that drama and expose a lifelong search for meaning. The Cuba swim is at long last behind me. The telling of the story lies ahead.”

Nyad, 64, has been a part of the media mainstream since that epic 103-mile swim in early September, appearing on various daytime talk shows, baring her soul to Oprah Winfrey and inspiring people across all demographics worldwide.

Knopf Publishing secured what is likely the deal of the year in publishing circles, with the title and official release date unknown.
