Aalborg, Mie Nielsen Take Down Pair of Danish Records in Iceland

REYKJAVIK, Iceland, October 13. AT the Tyrmot Aegis in Reykjavik today, the women’s team from Aalborg in Denmark managed to break two Danish records in one race, clocking 1:50.61 in the women’s 200 medley relay, with Mie O. Nielsen leading out in a time of 26.96 and a new Danish record in the 50 meter backstroke.

Kvik Kastrup held the now former Danish record of 1:51.29 in the medley, from the Danish Short Course Championships in 2009, and Mie O. Nielsen the Danish women’s backstroke record of 26.98 from the Danish team championships in March 2012.

Sweden’s Therese Alshammar still holds the Nordic 50 meter backstroke record of 26.62 from the Swedish Short Course Championships in November 2011, while the Danish national team record is 1.46.43 from the Istanbul 2009 European Short Course Championships.
