Olympic Gold Medalist Jeremy Stravius Joins European All Stars Squad for Epic Duel in the Pool

GLASGOW, Scotland, September 26. FRANCE’s Jeremy Stravius is the latest European to accept an invitation to the European All Stars squad to compete against Team USA at the Duel in the Pool later this year.

According to an L’Equipe report, Stravius will join fellow Frenchman Yannick Agnel on the Duel in the Pool roster. Less than a week ago, Agnel announced that he would be bypassing the French and European Short Course Championships this year to focus on the Duel. Now, he has a French compatriot to join him in the battle.

Stravius, a part of France’s Olympic gold medal relay in the 400 freestyle at the 2012 London Games, definitely has some short course chops. He’s won six European Short Course Championship titles, including an epic five continental titles at last year’s edition in Chartres. He is coming off a pair of gold medal relay performances at the 2013 World Championships in Barcelona, where he also claimed silver in the 50-meter back and bronze in the 100-meter backstroke events.

Stravius and Agnel are joined by Pal Joensen and Michael Jamieson so far to have publicly claimed spots on the European All Star men’s roster, while Team USA is quickly coming up with its team. Full official rosters are expected by the beginning of November.

The short course meter meet will be held at the Tollcross International Swimming Center, the home of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, in Glasgow, Scotland, from Dec. 20-21. For those in the States who want to watch the event, NBC will produce a two-hour show to be broadcast on Sunday, Dec. from 4-6 p.m. ET
