Chad Le Clos Named As Ambassador to 2014 Youth Olympic Games

NANJING, China, August 30. CHAD Le Clos will return to the meet that started him on the path to becoming an Olympic champion, but not as a competitor. The South African will attend the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing as an ambassador to the athletes competing there.

Proud to announce that I’m a @youtholympics ambassador. YOG was a huge stepping stone for me and I’m excited to be involved for Nanjing 2014— Chad Le Clos (@chadleclos) August 30, 2013

Le Clos was a standout at the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore, winning the 200 IM and taking silver in the 100 fly, 200 fly and 400 free. He also won bronze with his teammates in the 400 free relay at that meet. A year later, he was Commonwealth Games champion in the 200 fly and one year after that, was Olympic champion.

It’s only fitting that the man who is becoming Michael Phelps’ successor in the pool takes on this role as Youth Olympic Games ambassador. Phelps served in the same capacity in 2010.
