Thursday afternoon will be a timed finals session of the women's 1500 and men's 800, with the men's 1500 freestyle and women's 800 freestyle swum timed finals (fastest heat in finals) on Sunday. All other events will run prelims finals Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Swimming World's Jeff Commings will be covering the event on deck at the George F. Haines International Aquatic Center. Be sure to check out the Swimming World TV landing page for video interviews and nightly recaps.

The Santa Clara Grand Prix is one of the biggest meets in the series, usually featuring a bevy of international talent. The meet is no different this year, seeing National team contingents from Brazil, Australia, Mexico and China.

One of the biggest names in international racing in attendance is Brazil's Cesar Cielo, two-time World Champion in the 50 freestyle and current 50 and 100 freestyle world record holder. Cielo was recently featured on the Morning Swim Show where he talked about his goals for the upcoming summer season (including Santa Clara) and the adjustments he's had to make in training and racing coming off of major knee surgery in the fall.

Additionally, six Chinese swimmers are on the psych sheet, and will be coming off altitude training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. The squad trained alongside North Baltimore and Georgia contingents in Colorado during this past training camp, with four of their personal coaches as well.

Some bonding time definitely occurred, as evidenced by this Tweet from Olympic gold medalist Allison Schmitt. As you can see, one of the Chinese swimmers was definitely enjoying her time at the USOTC.
