Industry News: Swimming Canada Invites Applicants for CEO Role

Swimming Canada serves as the national governing body of competitive swimming, inspiring Canadians through world leading performances to embrace a lifestyle of swimming, sport, fitness and health. The organization oversees 75,000 members and over 400 swim clubs across the country. Canadians are global leaders in high performance swimming and development for both able-bodied swimmers and swimmers with a disability. Swimming is recognized as one of the most celebrated and successful Canadian summer Olympic sports.

Swimming Canada is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer to build on this success nationally and lead it to greater achievements. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be the organization's primary spokesperson and lead the staff in meeting the goals set out in its Vision 2020 Strategic Plan.

The CEO, in conjunction with the Board and senior management, will be responsible for the growth and development of Swimming Canada and swimming as a major sport in Canada. The CEO will also be responsible for leading the generation of revenue.

As a well-qualified candidate, you have a proven track record as a senior executive and experience reporting to or working closely with a Board of Directors. Visionary and strategic, you have the ability to create and execute plans to achieve objectives. Your collaborative nature and consensus-building skills will serve you well in working with the Association's partners, stakeholders, and governments. You have a passion for sport, which will add to your credibility and enable you to generate confidence with the many different audiences Swimming Canada must address. Your ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is a fundamental requirement; ideally, you are able to do so in both Official languages.
