AUSTRALIA, April 22. FEDERAL government spending on Swimming Australia has been slashed. The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) announced a 5.8% cut in the budget for Swimming Australia, an approximate $500,000 annual loss.

ASC Chair John Wylie says that the proposed budget cuts will come out of administration. “We've spoken to their presidents and CEOs this morning,” Wylie said, as reported by The Age. “With swimming, in particular, we had the benefit of the Smith Review, which provided a lot of good insights into some of what's been going on in swimming in the last few years. I think that did show some issues that needed to be addressed in swimming.”
