Chinese University Games: Lu Ying Posts Ranked 50 Fly Time

TIANJIN, China, September 18. THE Chinese University Games came to an end with Lu Ying jumping into the top 15 in the women's 50 fly in Tianjin.

Lu, the silver medalist in the women's 100 fly at the 2012 London Olympic Games this summer, vaulted to 14th in the world rankings in the women's 50 fly with a swift time of 26.30. That performance undercut her previous season best of 26.42 posted at the Chinese Long Course Nationals in April. Tao Li turned in a second-place time of 26.73, while Li Shu claimed third with a 27.22. Liu Zige wound up seventh overall in 27.80.

Sun Yang, who already scored four gold medals with wins in the 200, 400, 800 frees as well as the 400 freestyle relay, sat out the men's 1500 free. Li Yunqi used the opportunity to score the victory with a 15:12.20. Zhong Guiyu hit the wall second in 15:21.32, while Wang Chengxiang earned third in 15:28.48.

Chen Qian followed in the women's 1500 free with a 16:45.06. Ha Sinan took second in 16:53.23, while You Meihong wound up third in 17:07.62. Zhang Qibin topped the men's 50 fly in 24.03, while Wang Yuxin touched second in 24.50. Shi Tengfei took home third-place honors in 24.62.
