Jacqueline Freney, Andre Brasil Down World Records on Final Day of CanAm Open Championships

LA MIRADA, California, December 12. DURING the final day of competition, three more world-record setting performances went up on the scoreboard at the CanAm Open Championships.

Australia's Jacqueline Freney clocked a time of 5:00.91 in the women's 400 free S7 division to down the world record in prelims. That swim smashed the previous global standard of 5:04.87 set by USA's Mallory Weggemann back in 2010 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Freney returned during finals with a 4:59.95 to become the first woman in her division to break the 5:00 barrier.

Meanwhile, Brazil's Andre Brasil posted a 28.42 in the men's 50 back S10, clipping his own world record of 28.60 turned in in Berlin in 2010.
