Danish Short Course Nationals: Danish Relay Record Falls

THISTED, Denmark, November 26. THREE days into the Danish Short Course Nationals, and another Danish national record record tumbled in Thisted.

Soren Dahl, Jakob Andkjaer, Morten Klarskov and Daniel Skaaning set a Danish record in the men's 800 free relay with a 7:11.56. That swim beat the 7:11.63 set back in 2008.

Lotte Friis became just the second woman to break 16:00 in the 1500 free this year with a 15:59.67 for the win. That effort finished second behind Erin Killey's 15:59.05 from Australia in July. Mathilde Riis Sorensen placed second in 16:46.07, while Emma Wael took third in 17:07.45.

Jeanette Ottesen, who stands seventh in the world rankings with a season best 52.60 from the Berlin stop of the World Cup, won the women's 100 free in 52.79. Meanwhile, 15-year-old Mie Nielsen set her fourth Danish junior record of the meet with a 53.55. That time cleared her 54.03 from October, and shot her to 20th in the world rankings. Pernille Blume placed third in 53.58 for 22nd in the rankings.

Chris Christensen topped the men's 400 IM in 4:11.94, jumping to 20th in the world rankings with the swim. Viktor Bromer took second in 4:16.07, while Martin Mathiesen placed third in 4:28.09.

Jakob Andkjaer claimed the men's 100 free title in 48.44, while Soren Dahl took second in 49.83. Daniel Steen Andersen rounded out the top three in 51.20. Aschwin Wildeboer Faber (48.44) and Olaf Wildeboer Faber (50.03) also swam exhibition swims.

Katrine Holm Sorensen won the women's 200 fly in 2:10.39, while Julie Leth-Espensen took second in 2:13.52. Mathilde Pugholm Hvid turned in a third-place 2:16.91. Viktor Bromer touched out Nikolai Kirketerp-Moller, 1:57.13 to 1:57.23, for the men's 200 fly title. Jonas Sorensen wound up third in 2:00.17.

Niklas Hedegaard claimed the men's 50 breast in 28.19, while Emil Klingberg took second in 28.41. Mads Christensen picked up third in 29.34. Rikke Moller Pedersen grabbed the women's 50 breast crown in 31.31, while Katrine Liljedahl finished second in 31.94. Josephina Bartela placed third in 32.21.

Katrine Holm Sorensen, Mathilde Riis Sorensen, Pernille Juel and Amalie Emma Thomsen won the women's 800 free relay in 8:07.50.
