Sarah Gibson Doubles On Night Four Of Texas Sectionals

SHENANDOAH, Texas, July 25. SARAH Gibson of Aggie Swim Club picked up double victories in the women’s 400 free and 100 fly to headline the fourth night of racing at the Speedo Champions Series sectional meet hosted by The Woodlands Swim Team in Shenandoah, Texas.

Claire Brandt of the Dallas Mustangs kicked off tonight’s finals session with a dominating performance in the women’s 100 back. Brandt stopped the clock in 1:02.80, more than two seconds in front of Eagle Swim Association’s Jordan Wheeler, who touched in 1:05.17. Jennifer Reese of The Woodlands came in third in 1:05.40. The men’s 100 back final turned out to be much closer, as Streamline Aquatics’ Andrii Nikishenko out-touched Texas Gold’s Robert Stenman, 58.48 to 58.72. Christopher McAnany of Alamo Area Aquatic Association picked up third in 59.37.

Aggie Swim Club’s Sarah Gibson took home the women’s 400 free title in 4:20.43, just over a second in front of Dads Swim Club’s Alexandra Buscher (4:21.85). Peyton Quattlebaum of First Colony rounded out the top three in 4:23.84. In the men’s 400, Alex Nickell barely edged Longhorn Aquatics’ Cory Loria, 4:01.73 to 4:01.76. Mattias Glenesk of Lost Creek Aquatics was also in the hunt for the win but wound up third in 4:02.40.

Franko Jonker gave Aggie Swim Club its second win of the night with a victory in the women’s 100 breast. Jonker cruised by the field to win in 1:10.53, well ahead of Cypress Fairbanks’ Victoria Roubique (1:12.76). Longhorn Aquatics’ Jordan Surhoff posted a 1:14.00 to take third. Thiago Parravicini demolished the field in the men’s final with a two and a half second victory over Harris County Aquatic Program’s Safa Anya, 1:02.98 to 1:05.59. Alexander Ruata of Team Fins came in third with a 1:06.27.

Sarah Gibson earned her second win of the night in the women’s 100 fly, touching first in 1:02.42. Meaghan Wisenbaker of The Woodlands claimed second in 1:02.81, .04 in front of Claire Brandt from the Dallas Mustangs (1:02.85). Blue Tide Aquatics’ Alexander Hancock topped the field in the men’s 100 back with a 54.82, followed by The Woodlands’ Gray Umbach (55.56) and Alamo Area Aquatic Association’s Luke Shaw (55.93).

Alamo Area Aquatic Association leads the combined team standings through four days with 492 points. Longhorn Aquatics is currently second with 409 points, while the Dallas Mustangs are third with 328 points.
